Being a Children's Lit major definitely has its perks, like rereading some of my favorite books from my childhood or watching Disney films as part of my homework. During today's class of Critical Approaches to Children's Literature we discussed Lewis Carroll's
Alice in Wonderland and how Alice has been depicted through the ages.
The first part of the lecture focused on the actual making of Alice. The professor asked everyone to draw their version of Alice, many of which turned out like the blonde Alice from the 1951 Disney film version. The second part of the lecture focused on the book becoming a classic through textual transformation and merchandising. It was very interesting to say the least.
