Empty Road

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the tother, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy ans wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference.
-Robert Frost

Which road will you take?

Realization

Yesterday was the first time that I went to a wedding for someone who wasn't related to me and who wasn't a family friend. Yesterday I watched my friend Katie Hamilton marry her best friend, Colton Haney. It was so strange that I went to a wedding for someone that my parents didn't know, for someone who my parents have never even met.
I had this crazy realization that I am growing up. I am about to enter the real world. I am about to start my own life, get my own place, and get a real job. SCARY! It hadn't really hit me until yesterday. My friends and I are getting old, moving on and starting a new chapter in own lives.
I expect many more weddings to come, which again is strange. And I hate to admit it, but I am a romantic sap. I got all teary-eyed when Katie began walking down the aisle. I immediately turned to watch Colton to watch his reaction. To watch him, watch his soon to be wife coming towards him. His face lit up. It was a look as if they were the only two people in the room. He didn't see anyone else, he kept his gaze on Katie. It was beautiful.

So here is a cutesy, romantic song for all the love-birds out there...

Friday Night Lights

Tonight is the series finale of Friday Night Lights. Ironically, I always look forward to Wednesday nights because it brings me back to high school, my glory days.
Minus the cattiness, the drama I really loved cheerleading. I enjoyed wearing my uniform every Friday and walking onto the track after school to set up my ladder. In PV we weren't allowed to have any night games because the neighbors surrounding the school complained about how noisy it would be and how bright the lights would be. Even though we didn't have night games at home, we still managed to have a lot of fun. During 6th period my friends and I would go home to get ready; we would put on our final touches of make-up and put one last bobby pin in our hair. Once we were ready we would make our way to school and get ready to cheer. The crowd was always so loud and cheered along with us. Let's go Panthers! *clap, clap, clap, clap clap.
Away games were always night games. Every other Friday I can remember my cheer coach Dee yelling at me, Sophia, Bree, Sasha and Morgan for always being late. We usually had a bus time for 5:15, but no matter how hard we tried to be on time, we never were. Clearly we didn't try very hard. We always got ready at Bree's house and planned out what we would be doing after the game. Though that tradition never changed...win or lose the cheerleaders and football players always went to In-N-Out before heading over to some house party.

I miss my high school days and Friday Night Lights brought me back. Funny enough, my football team were also called the Panthers so the show seemed even more real to me. Since Pepperdine doesn't have a football team, Wednesday nights was the closest I got to the football field. I will miss the East Dillon Panthers, the West Dillion Lions, and most of all the beautiful Tim Riggins.
